Quality Assurance Engineer - the role, purpose and mission

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Cloud Automation team. Cloud Automation is a key function, accelerating customer deployment, adoption and consumption of private cloud platforms. Working closely with account, strategy and advisory, and professional services teams, the Cloud Automation team sits at the heart of driving rapid results and unlocking customer value for enterprise customers.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Xtravirt, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the solutions we deliver meet the highest quality standards, meeting customer needs and exceeding expectations. Working as part of a cross-functional team, you’ll be involved in both manual and automated testing, contributing to both small and large-scale projects, from planning and executing tests to designing and implementing quality management strategies. This is a customer-facing role, where you will collaborate with development teams, clients, and partners to ensure that all aspects of the solution meet Xtravirt’s rigorous quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Success: Act as a trusted advisor to customers by ensuring that all products and solutions meet their quality requirements and expectations.
  • Solution Testing: Design and execute comprehensive test plans, including functional, non-functional (performance, security, load, stress), integration, and system testing, for VMware-based solutions
  • Automation and CI/CD: Set up and integrate testing tools into automated workflows and continuous integration (CI) / continuous delivery (CD) pipelines
  • Quality Strategy: Architect and maintain quality management strategies and systems for both traditional and CI/CD-based development approaches, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure seamless testing processes and timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track defects, performance metrics, and quality KPIs, and report findings to the relevant teams, providing actionable insights
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and contribute to reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring best practices and process optimizations are in place
  • Customer Expectations: Align test strategies with customer needs and manage expectations, ensuring quality goals are met consistently

Key Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a combination of technical expertise and a passion for delivering impactful cloud solutions. Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

  • Testing Expertise: Strong experience with manual and automated testing in both waterfall and Agile (Scrum, Kanban) environments.
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP environments and cloud-native development practices.
  • VMware by Broadcom products such as VMware Cloud Foundation, vDefend and AVI and features is desired including, but not limited to, VCF Operations and VCF Automation
  • Networking & Systems: Solid understanding of IP networking and experience working with Linux & Windows systems
  • Quality Management: Experience architecting quality management systems, including the development of test cases, strategies, and the execution of automated/manual tests.
  • Troubleshooting: Expertise in troubleshooting technical issues across different OSI layers and system architectures
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment across development, operations, and support teams
  • English Proficiency: Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal), with experience in documenting and reporting on quality processes
