The situation

  • Upgrade from legacy networking and security product to provide enhanced network virtualisation functionality for vCloud Director environment
  • Align to latest VMware SDDC product set
  • Enable customer to rapidly provision the networking and security services required by their end customers into multiple data centres

Our approach

  • VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1 deployed into multiple data centres to provide a network virtualisation platform for:
    • overlay networking
    • security functions
    • L4-L7 services
  • Full integration with service provider cloud based on VMware vCloud Director 5.5
  • Leveraged Trust Zones implemented on a per-VM basis via NSX for vSphere’s Distributed Firewall, to help prevent attacks in the event of a data centre perimeter security breach
